HTC Desire released to match Nexus One

The new HTC Desire.

With the ground breaking release of Google’s Nexus One, it seemed that there was a new smartphone in the market which could challenge the iPhone; however, HTC has been quick to see the Nexus One’s success and build upon its features to create the HTC Desire.

The Nexus One is actually made by HTC, allowing them to create a phone with such similar design features.  The Desire has nearly identical specifications to the Nexus One, featuring a 1GHz CPU, 576MB of RAM, a 5 megapixel camera, GPS and a 3.7 inch AMOLED screen.

The question is, why would you buy the HTC Desire when it is a blatant copy of Google’s Nexus One? Although the Desire runs the same Android 2.1 OS, HTC have added their unique Sense user interface; this means that the Desire will feature multi-touch capability throughout the OS as well as enabling Flash 10.1 in its browser.

Flash 10.1 capability could be the biggest unique selling point the HTC Desire has, beating the iPhone, iPad and Nexus One which currently don’t have this feature.

HTC has not discussed when the handset will be released in the US, however it has been rumoured the models will be released throughout Europe and Asia near the end of April.

  1. Ah, Flash!

Flash would make the iPhone, SO MUCH better.

  2. There’s still hope for OS 4.0 later this year, unfortunately as the iPad doesn’t even feature Flash, I doubt the iPhone will anytime soon.

  3. The HTC Desire looks simply fantastic, HTC have really upped their game and it will be hard for Apple to compete with them to be honest. In fact, I recently made a review of the HTC Desire in light of the release,

Additionally, with its features, I think it is the number one smartphone in the market at this moment in time.
